02About the Role
Sacred iconography in Sanatan Dharma is a spiritual science (Dhyana Shloka and Pratima Lakshana) where every mudra, weapon, vehicle (Vahana), and color carries metaphysical meaning. As an Illustrator at SattvaLok, you will create original digital paintings, character illustrations, and storyboards that capture the sublime beauty of sacred narratives. You will illustrate scenes from the Puranas, Panchatantra, and temple histories, honoring traditional iconographic shastras while delivering breathtaking modern artwork.
03Responsibilities & What You'll Do
- →Create high-resolution digital illustrations of deities according to classical Dhyana shlokas.
- →Illustrate epic narrative scenes, parables, and character portraits for our digital literature and scripture guides.
- →Design intricate vector motifs, temple architectural details, and decorative borders.
- →Develop visual storyboards for animation teams and documentary video essays.
- →Maintain stylistic consistency across diverse illustration series and book editions.
- →Collaborate with Sanskrit researchers to verify that weapons, mudras, and ornaments match canonical descriptions.
04Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- ✓2+ years of professional illustration experience with a compelling portfolio of character or scene art.
- ✓Mastery of digital painting tools (Photoshop, Procreate, Clip Studio Paint, or Corel Painter).
- ✓Strong understanding of human anatomy, dynamic composition, lighting, and color theory.
- ✓Deep reverence and knowledge of traditional Indian iconography, avoiding shallow comic distortions.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- ★Training in traditional Indian painting styles (Thanjavur, Madhubani, Pattachitra, Miniature, or Kerala Mural art).
- ★Experience illustrating children's books, graphic novels, or mythology compendiums.
- ★Ability to work in both stylized graphic and detailed painterly aesthetics.
