The worship traditions of Kashmir, the temple festivals of Kerala, the Shakta heritage of Bengal, the Varkari movement of Maharashtra, the Bhakti traditions of Tamil Nadu, and the Vaishnava traditions of Assam each possess unique liturgical depth. As a Regional Tradition & Sampradaya Researcher, you will investigate and document the philosophies, festivals, sacred arts, and saintly lineages of specific regional sampradayas for our global knowledge platform.
03Responsibilities & What You'll Do
- →Author rigorous research monographs on specific regional sampradayas, saint lineages, and monastic traditions.
- →Document distinctive regional festival practices, sacred foods (Prasadam), music traditions, and temple rituals.
- →Translate regional spiritual poetry and stotras (Abhangas, Divya Prabandham, Vachanas, Baul songs, Kirtans) into accessible English.
- →Analyze historical interactions and philosophical dialogues between diverse regional lineages.
- →Collaborate with local scholars, temple trusts, and cultural foundations to verify regional data.
- →Develop comprehensive cultural profiles for SattvaLok's regional heritage navigation portal.
04Qualifications & Experience
Required Qualifications
- ✓2+ years of research experience in regional Indian history, cultural anthropology, literature, or religion.
- ✓Deep knowledge of at least one specific regional spiritual tradition and its classical literary language.
- ✓Fluency in English and the relevant regional language (e.g., Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Odia, Assamese, etc.).
- ✓High academic integrity, objectivity, and respectful sensitivity to diverse customs.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- ★Degree in Humanities, Anthropology, Indian History, or Comparative Religion.
- ★Published writing or active field documentation experience in regional heritage.
